Building a child and youth centre

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) notes that “children in Ukraine risk missing out on critical years of learning and social development”. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, some 5.3 million children have faced obstacles in accessing education.
How we solve this project
The EIU team, together with the Save Ukraine charity, searched for and selected a suitable building to create a safe centre for the children, with adequate shelter to stay in during the air strikes. However, the premises were severely damaged during the occupation of Irpin and need to be restored.
Major challenges for the EIU team in implementing this initiative:
- Repairing the main building (budget no. 1);
- Equipping the basement premises for a safe and durable stay, including for children, during possible air strikes (budget no. 2);
- Installation of an escape system (budget No. 3);
- Equipping the above premises with alternative sources of electricity and water heating to ensure continuous operation of the children’s centre: generator (10-15 kW), 100-litre boiler – 3 units (budget No. 4);
- Provide the children’s centre with educational equipment, such as: desks, chairs, tablets, bunk beds, water coolers, LED rechargeable lamps, etc. (budget no. 5);
- The estimated amount for budgets 1-3 totals €46,700.
- The estimated amount for budget no. 4 totals €4,500.
- The estimated amount for budget no. 5 totals 13.500€.
